Given that one unfortunate Tweet can harm a company, I think HR better figure out their social media strategy sooner rather than later.

Notice the WSJ story never mentions that HR leaders are brought on boards for their expertise in regular employee issues at a company. Just the high level stuff of executive comp, M&A, executive succession planning, etc. So they are the boards' personal HR advisers, not the companyies'. A "seat at the table," certainly, but the wrong table.
