I have started to see an increasing interest in an integrated talent management strategy from clients (and non-clients I have talked to during my recent travels). Until recently, most of the interest was around a specific talent management application area or a mini-suite (e.g., pay for performance). Talent management has become a mainstream concept. Companies are much less likely to confuse talent management with stand-alone recruitment or succession management. Now that they understand what it is, they see the potential benefits of a more holistic view. I am now getting questions about where to start and the best practices/lessons learned in addition to technology options. We will be focusing more on these issues during 2007 especially via case studies. If you know of some interesting examples of companies who have implemented integrated talent management strategy (not necessarily a single, integrated technology solution) and have shown some demonstrable business value, please let me know.
